Transmission Oil recommendation

I need to change my trany oil in my 1988 944 Turbo S with 88k. Any recommendations on what oil to use for the trany?

Thanks

Is it a 5 speed? if so, when I researched this I came up with Redline MT-90. That's what I use and it works fine, but since I have never used anything else I can't tell you from experience how it compares to other brands.

Well, you have an LSD so you need to make sure to use oil that works with yours properly.

A lot of people recommend Swepco and Redline fluids for ours. I put Royal Purple into my non-LSD 951 tranny and have been happy with the smoother shifting and lower noise.

Cheers,

Keith

Anyone use Amsoil?

I have an 86 with an LSD and cooler and need to change mine before my next track day in a few weeks. Has anyone used Amsoil? I looked at some testing results for wear and protection and Amsoil appears to beat both Royal Purple and Redline by a significant amount.

I am using Amsoil in my 86 with an LSD. No issues to date (5,000 miles) and no chattering from the LSD. I believe that is rated for LSD use.

why does everyone keep asking this question?

swepco 201 (blue) is the only transmission oil that should be used for these cars;

it's available from right here on pelican;
