TPS gremlin
Fueling problems. Car would start, run well for a short while then wouldn't rev past idle. After replacing fuel pump, filter, air sensor, fuel valves, etc. without change I tried to get the engine to rev with the throttle cable under the hood. No luck but when I tapped the TPS with the rubber handle of my 1/4 inch drive ratchet there was a temporary improvement. So I grabbed a TPS off a spare engine and that was the problem.
I was about to replace the screen in the tank, but instead used a piece of fuel line that I had lying around to check the fuel delivery. It only required loosening the rubber hose on the valve in the back of the fuel rail and sliding the hose on that and putting the hose in a gas can. Start the engine and, "voila," you can measure the fuel delivery, albeit you won't know the pressure. Fuel delivery was fine and I could have avoided a lot of headaches by using this simple check first. Coming to grips with no carburetors. Diverdan |

I posted a thread on cleaning the tps, it might help. It will keep you from tossing away a tps that could be saved.
