Insurance in Massachusetts ???????
![]() Who do you Massachusetts 951 drivers use for insurance. When I had an early 911 I used Grundy but since my 951 is a 1986 I'm having some trouble getting an agreed value policy. As far as some of the larger insurance companies are concerned it is a 1986--4cyl--hatchback worth about 50$$ !!!!! |

with my repair shop we deal with ins. co every day . all we work on are top end cars . i have 2 cars that require specialty ins. at this time . one is my ferrari 348ts and the other is a 1987 vw gti that i have over 119 K in to . as long as you have invoices from money spent there should be on trouble with an agreed price . if your car is bone stock with low miles they look at blue book and things like . what that kind of car is selling for on ebay and other sights . and average it out . thats what they did for the 348 . as for the vw i hade to give them copes of all invoices for parts and labor on the car. if you have them they can't dispute the value of your car ! if your just saying my car is worth 70k when all the other cars like your are selling for 40k then no they will not insure your car for 70k only market value . last fall we hade a customers 355 ferrari totaled he was saying it was worth over 160k . when a car like his could be replaced for about 80k . if you feal you need to get an independent appraiser to come up with the cars value and go from there . you can never put a value on the love you have for your car !

If your car is not a DD, American Collectors Ins in Cherry Hill, NJ
They will insure you to an agreed price but they limit the mileage to 5K/yr

BEWARE --- those in Mass should re-read the stated value endorsement in the standard auto policy. The last time I read it -- about 2-3 years ago -- it really is not a true stated value term but rather an ACV endorsement if you don't get it appraised frequently. I can't remember the endorsement number -- and it might have changed since the insurance reform/competition came through these parts -- but is seemed like it wasn't really of any use to someone that wants more than ACV at any one time.
My memory is that stated value in the endorsement means the insurance company will pay the lesser of the stated value or the cost to repair the covered auto not to exceed the stated value or the ACV (actual cash value).
