I know what I'm doing tomorrow...

blowing work off
watching LeMans (McQueen) in my garage

as I put on my new Dansk muffler

might do my SS brake lines too

all done...only 2 minor snags...
one bolt would not line up, reamed the hole a bit, slide right in...
the pipe was close to the rear sway, so I put a c-clamp and squeezed it a bit, oval'ed...
perfect now...

I love the sound, a bit deeper, not louder...
seems to spool a tad easier too

the old muffer was rotted on the can and at the tailpipe, it just fell off...
the front hanger rubber was missing, lined everything up, installed a new one
no rattles, no vibrations...

also adjusted the idle...got my new screws
warmed car up to test drive for the exhaust
jumper the icv out
set to ~850
put a dab of pliable non-hardening silicone on the screw
tested...ac, lights, etc....stable

OK, got one other niggle rectified...had a slight shimmy at 72 mi/hr (indicated)
had the tires force balanced...gone...the car is smoooooth

filling up with Shell 93 today, a guy approaches me...gives me his card
Auto tech+...specializes in 951's, has a couple and a 968 turbo convertable...
has parts, etc....I've heard about him, supposedly a master with the 944
in my podunk town...lol

I asked him about an alignment shop...he recommended this place in the boonies...
he said it's off the beaten path

I know the place! we are doing a large sewer project, and I saw the place and thought about taking the car there...guess is was providence
http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Mikes.Wheel.Alignment.Greensboro.PA.724-943-4076

he says the guy charges $100 and spends 3 hours on the car, familiar with the 944, and is a perfectionist

when I get home tomorrow I'm going to inspect every sqaure inch on my car. Just got it so I need to find all the little tid bits that need fixing. I already ordered a ton of stuff thats piled up by my front door waiting for me. Shift boot, center console leather, a pair of door panels, headlights, and I have gauge rings and white faces on teh way too. Little to do but still a good amount of work. Cant wait. Only got a taste of her before I had to leave her for a week.

nice...I like doing stuff like this...
sounds like you have your work cut out for you...

I'm thinking SS brakes lines tomorrow, pressure flush with 2 L of ATE 200 Gold, flush clutch too...

unless I'm too stiff from lying on my back today while doing the muffler with the car on ramps...ain't as young as I used to be

might just take a drive to Ohiopyle...amazing roads, curves & elevation
not to mention the scenery
