Sounds like you are familar with those dyno queen 951's around that are always broke down and need another tune. Never driven Cayman S, may just plan to get another 951 after I do drive a Cayman S.

What should I expect from Cayman S , good and bad ?

Can't work on it w/o lifting it up.
Little cargo space.
Smaller than 951/968
Higher insurance than 951.
About same MPG ?
No removable roof like 951
Does have smaller hatch than the 951.
Plastic center console.
Direct injection feels like downshift after throttle off ?


Mid engine balance dynamics weird ?
LSD option ?

Engines are also prone to some design faults that see them expire way before time. Just save up and get a GT3 with a GT1 class motor.

Which flaws are you referring in Cayman S 2006 ?
is this inherient failure in all of them ?

I will research the faults, you browse the Cayman S forums and see that or is this a known unknown in PCA ?

I got to wondering how long that (albeit nice looking) AFM setup that you've pictured in the thread would hold out, before the "need" to go beyond that kicked in.

My 951S is currently in "dyno queen" mode right now. I have no choice but to report that streetability absolutely BLOWS when in this mode! But I AM looking to break out of that mold soon. Look at my most recent post in the stock airbox + snorkle vs. free intake thread.

In having been there, I'm going to have to suggest that the best setup for HP gain (on a 951), without getting out of hand (like I now am), lies with an MAF/cone filter/chipset setup, with a punched out or deleted cat coupled to a 3" catback exhaust. With a K26/8 @ 20psi, 335-340hp (at the crank) is achievable. If no knock counter is installed, DON'T GO ABOVE 15psi. That is pretty much the "sane" limit to shoot for, if you want to shield your engine from possible catastrophe! And the close to +100hp WILL put the smile on your face.
