What benefit from the Lindsey Racing intercooler upgrade.
On a stock 951 with cat-delete exhaust what is the HP benefit from the Lindsey Racing intercoolers stage-1 or stage-2? Are there any other intercooler options out there that are an upgrade over stock and bolt on?

I did some reading on this a few months back. With your setup I'd go with the modded end tanks (stg 1). The benefit is better off boost response and marginally better spool up. I don't know what your power increase will be but if you read LR's data you see cooler temp differentials. Cooler air charge means more power and less chance of detonation.
An interesting note someone on RL brought up about the stage 2 is by increasing the stock cores flow actually decreases the temp differential. The reduction in pressure drop is big though. Double edged sword there, but with that I would only choose the stage 2 if you ran high boost. I don't think you will see any benefit with a mild setup like yours. The stock core is pretty big but that size is from thickness, not frontal area. Larger frontal area is more effective (with a good core depth obviously) for max cooling. I ended up going with the front mount from SFR. It's not much more expensive than the LR Stage 2 and uses a much better sized core. I however wanted room to grow when I evetually go with an even bigger turbo. With all that said, i think the stage 1 is the best choice. |

Thanks guys, that speed force intercooler looks great but it concerns me somewhat that it would sit right in front of the radiator, Duck, has temp been a problem at all running this product?

Atleast one RL guy runs it with his a/c still in and has had no problems even on his 3L. I was not concerned with this either way as one of my local track buddies runs a much larger custom front mount on his car with no problems either, he has no a/c but also runs considerably higher boost and makes way more power. The core from the SFR is a good quality one and not hugely oversized either.
I've yet to install mine though, about 1800 miles from my car. Still I think the stage 1 is more than adequete for your car as it stands now. Infact the stage 1 is probably even sufficient for my goals. The SFR setup is overkill I think but that's how I tend to choose my supporting mods.. Plenty of room to grow. |

On a stock system I do not know where any big gains would be had, the intake and head can only move so much air. But that being said if you are working on a budget and the HP/MOD bug has gotten a hold of ya. Buy it bolt it on and start saving for the next mod!
Cheers, |
