Porsche 951 rebuild...tons of pictures

some pictures from my rebuild. last year i traded a 95 vw jetta auto to a guy that had a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo with 129k and some minor mods. car wouldnt stay running for him and he gave up. so i got it and it turned out to be a bad autothority MAF that was installed. installed stock setup and started right up. after that i started tearing it down to rebuild.

Pictures.....

Nice catch can. Ebay special. those are very affordable. Did you have any trouble with the hose size and how did you route it?

yeah cheap ebay special. i blew to much $$$$ on everything else. i didnt have much blow by anyways but i just have a silicone 90 degree elbow from the top of the AOS into some silicone hose to the can then to the MAF pipe. nothing special. just thought it might interupt the air enough to catch some oil.

me thinks you made out pretty well with the jetta trade......that's sort of how I got my 951 except I traded a 944S for it.

Nice looking build!

BTW - is that your Jeep? If so....what size Rims/ Tires? 10" rims, 8" rims?? I'm lifting my XJ and am having a difficult time deciding what rim size to go with.

what all did you have to do to the bracket on the alternator? and did you enlarge the key-way for the stock 944 pulley?

will944 - what lift are you considering for your xj? just to keep it legal, i'm running tj fender flares with 15x8 steel cragar v-5s with 35x10.50x15 ltb swampers. only about a 4.5-5 inch lift

first off you have to remove some aluminum behind the pulley(first pic), then take alittle off each side to open it up to fit and drill out the hole to fit the 944 stock bolts and tapped ther other side(2nd & 3rd pic), there is no keyway on the nissan alternator i cut it in there and used the stock key. i got mine from the junk yard and dismantled it cleaned everything and checked brushes becuz they are internal now. i also got the stock plug with it for a clean look.
