i put autothority 951 'S' chips in my '88 non 'S' today

it seems to be working pretty damn good. boost at 14/15 lbs., AFR is 11 at full boost and WOT.

my butt dyno says "WOW!"

sort of. i am pretty sure it has an updated compressor wheel. it was making 11 lbs of boost with a bone stock setup, except that wheel of course. i have also eyeballed the wheel and it doesn't look stock.

i am thinking that something is going to break, i am betting on the transaxle.

I would think that the "S" chips would result in a leaner condition at boost onset and probably richer up top, due to the differences in spool up for the K26-6 vs. K26-8.

The K26-8 is slower to spool, so I would think that the chips would be mapped to that turbo. Since the K26-6 spools up faster, you probably aren't getting the same amount of fuel down low.

Conversely up at high revs where the K26-6 slows down the K26-8 can keep going, which would make the A/F richer.

If your WB is telling you that you are good, then great to hear...

FYI, I used to run the K26-6 with Autothority chips and a Lindsey Boost Enhancer and was able to get 16 lbs of boost no problems. This is with the cycling valve still in the loop. Boost drops off as revs go up, but the K26-6 should have no problem handling 16 lbs. Your tranny will be fine as well.

Cheers, Keith

on spool up, the WB is telling me that the AF ratio immediately drops to about 12.5 and bottoms at 11. i don't know what to say, but i think it is working better than i hoped.

as for the transaxle, it is already whining. it has been for about two years or more. that is why i think it will be the first thing to break. 6 speed 968 transaxle in my future?

i think i have an explanation for it not getting lean on spool up. it is going off of the actual boost pressure. so, as soon as the pressure builds, the computer reacts.

what lead me to think this might actually work is:

1. both models use the same injectors and FPR.
2. this setup produces the same peak boost pressure with both models.

anyway, if something blows up, i'll be sure to update.

ya, it should be 2.5 as long as no one messed with it. most 3 bar ones are black unless you get one for a bimmer or volvo, they usually come silver

yup, they seem to be working fine. wheel spin in first gear on spool up with the car rolling about 15MPH. madness.
