Anyone know what this part is???

This ancillary will not stop running, even after the engine is turned off. I actually discovered it when I was in the garage the day after I took it out for a drive and noticed a churning noise coming from the engine compartment. I located it easily, and disconnected the power coupler leading into the part, and it stopped. As soon as I plugged it back in, it came right back on again. Can anyone tell me what this part is, and what it does? I've included a photo with the a red circle around the component in question.

Turbo waterpump, it will run for aprox. 30 seconds after you shut the car off or until water temp in the turbo waterjacket lowers to a certain point.

AH, ok. So if it isn't stopping, even after the engine is cold, then would it be the switch, or thermostat that would need checking?

Most likely thermostat. The connector for it is the black cap with single wire coming out of it under the throttle body area, right by the TPS. If you disconnect it and the pump stops, thermostat is bad. If you disconnect and it keeps running, the relay is probably stuck.

Mine wouldn't stop running either, it was the relay.
