Grinding noise from front

I have a grinding noise coming from the front of my 86 turbo, I have changed the front bearings and racers installed new pads the rotors look good, I have looked for any rubbing around the wheel arches. it only happens when I turn hard to the right, I think the spindles are ok as the new bearings were nice and tight to get on. What else should I check?

Could the steering rack cause the noise?

If I had something like that going on, I'd try to isolate where the noise is coming from.

If it occurs at low speed, have someone walk next to the car while you drive - maybe they can localize the noise.

The rack probably wouldn't cause a noise like that.

But it could be the sheet metal shield in back of the rotor - if it is that, with the car up on jackstands, you oughta be able to make the noise.

I was getting tire rub on hard acceleration in rh turn. Wouldn't describe it as grinding noise though. I replaced the front struts (they were orig w/100k mi). Problem solved!

Ive checked out all the obvious stuff, rotors, rotor Shields, jacked up the car spun the wheels, changed bearings, spindles seem to have no ware.

I'm at a loss to what causes it, it only happen at high speed on a right had turn, I have been running the car at a track this year which is mostly right hand turns.

any other ideas?

Just curious, is that an unusual track? Or am I mistaken, that tracks usually go left (counter-clockwise)? I've never run a track.

I'm asking this because, it almost seems that if you ran a left-handed track, you would not be experiencing any problems..

This is a street track not an oval like Nascar, so the track runs clockwise, most of the turns are right handed, look up Putnam Park and you will get a better idea.

10-4, copy that. Sorry but I don't have anything meaningful to suggest, as to what your problem may be.

Found it at last! The front drivers side shock was out of gas, when I lifted the front rotor up and down with out the wheel on it flapped all over the place! it was hard to notice while driving as the springs I have on the car are so hard.

My next problem is getting the replacement parts, of course koni don't supply just the shock insert I have to buy the hole assembly. managed to order what i need from 944 on-line.
