Got boost?

1986 951, 87k original miles, no mods.
I just picked this up last Thursday and have already taken it on a road trip back home to WV. The car is all original right down to the Blaupunkt head unit and hasn't been modded in any fashion. The AC still works with R12 and it has a fair amount of receipts showing the maintenance history on it but nothing that I can find verifying that the timing belt and water pump were ever replaced.
Are there any enthusiasts in the Toledo, OH area? Any recommended shops in the area? I took some quick photos with my HTC EVO after driving it down from Michigan to Toledo, OH. ![]()

Great find, I don't think you will find too many that are in that kind of shape and all original. Someone definitely babied this one.

The only issues I've discovered outside of the non-functioning clock and dim dash lights is the windshield washer fluid pump doesn't work (it does for the headlights) and the central locking system is not working (found something vague about it in a receipt). The dash is not cracked and the interior is pristine. I think the steering box is bad, too - it has too much play and I can feel it over-assisting. The accordian style exhaust manifold has been done on it and it did at one time have the leaking PS hose issue repaired.

derek....take a small needle or piece of wire, and CAREFULLY poke it into the windshield washer nozzles, they may just be plugged. The windshield and headlight washers use the same pump, so if one system is working unless you have plugged or broken lines or nozzles, they both should work.

I'll check out the nozzles along with the lines to see what might be plugging up the system - thanks!
I also found two burnt out bulbs in the rear - the left rear running light and the left rear side marker bulb so right now it's little things that need attention. |

with a car that looks like that, a few small things are nothing!!!!!!!! Very hard to find such a nice and completely unmolested 951 these days.
On your windshield washers, the most common way for the nozzles to get plugged is with car wax, if they didn't cover the nozzles while waxing the car. I found that that is what was plugging mine, and the needle fixed them right up. Also, also look for mold and slime in the bottom of the washer tank, if you see any, remove the tank and clean it out, that is something else that can plug the system.
