Power perfect..?
My brother bought a 944 turbo for his first car and has driven it only to laguna seca and the go kart track in almost 2 years.. I drive it everyonce in a while to the boxing gym and to Racing events any how the car has Power Perfect on it and an auto meter A/f/r gauge in it I noticed at W.O.T the car goes lean at 4000 r.p.m never and has flat spots in the boost now We have never beat on the car knowing that it needs a tune. My question is will I be able to fix this buy uploading a new map onto the power perfect program.. ?
Also do I need a wide band 02 meter? |

Your car probably needs a proper tune if it's leaning out at 4000rpm and has flat spots of boost. Your motor is not getting enough fuel that is why it's leaning out at 4000rpm.
A wideband is a very important gauge to have, whether the car is NA or turbo, it's a must have. That Autometer air fuel gauge you have, Is it the one that is colored and bounces back and forth between rich and lean while you drive? If so, I would get a better wideband that does the job properly. A good air fuel wideband shows the ratio in numbers, not a bouncing crazy disco show, can't see results from that. The shop I work at is having a promotion on the new Autometer wideband that was just released. Just as good as the AEM, maybe better. If you want to, you can PM me and I can give you a quote on pricing. They retail at about $290+shipping, but I can help you out with a hell of a deal! Last edited by Bao; 09-27-2010 at 09:38 PM.. |

Anyone know any good tuners in San Jose or the California bay area ? I figured it was the map on the power perfect cause you would think even the stock tune would have enough fuel for 4 k rpm's

the units are pretty easy to tune yourself. Get a good wideband first, it's essential to proper tuning. Also check the fuel filter out and fuel pressure as these can make it run lean.

Get rid of that SMT6 unless it is not parts of Vitesse Racing's kit.

ditos motors in ssf, they have a loaded dyno which is an absolute must on all forced injection cars, i think they charge 100$ for 3 passes with a a/f readout for just hp and torque, but if you want tuning its around 180 per hr including all dyno time and passes , you can even hire your own tuner and rent their dyno . there number is 650 991 0400
they are the closest place in the peninsula to have proper tuning knowledge with a proper loaded dyno, they can do all wheel drive as well, Anyone else reading this that wants their turbo/nitrous/supercharged (forced induction only) car on a dyno, make sure the facility has a "loaded dyno" if not , you just wasted your time and money and the results are absolutly not correct, if you dont believe me , go find out for yourself |
