APE Chips
I just got some used APE chips. I was curious do you have to install a 3 bar FPR to run them. I also have one of those just incase. I have heard these chips are really not all that great, but what about them isn't good? Would a LBE be better to use then the modified banjo bolt?

Autothority chips have been around a long time. They are decent chips that have a long history of being pretty reliable, but are not the chips to use if you want to have the most HP gains from our cars. They tend to run rich down low (for safety), but get lean at the high end while under boost.
No, you don't need a 3 bar FPR to run APE chips, just the standard 2.5 will work fine. Yes, you can use the LBE instead of the banjo bolt (This was just discussed here very recently). Just don't use both of them. As with all modifications, you should invest in a wideband O2 setup so you know what is going on with your AFR's. Cheers, Keith

I just discover that my car has an Authority stage II ship. by the date on the chip it's been in about 10 years so obviously there have been no issues... and the car has been often tracked It starts and runs perfect. I guess I could be giving some hp away but as far a reliability issues.. none

My APE chipset works fine, and has since 1999.
