944 turbo suspension upgrade
I have a 944 turbo with stock suspension, and I've been getting really into drifting. My car has an immense amount of body roll. So I'm looking to upgrade the suspension.
I wanted to get coilovers, but they're really hard to find, and decently expensive. Soni was looking into upgrading the torsion bars, front springs, and all 4 shocks. What would be the stiffest setup I could do with this? Is 30mm the largest? And what is 30mm expressed as a spring rate? Thanks, Taylor |

try here:
Koni, cup, coil, over, kit, 8641-1414, 8040-1035, 30-series, 8641-1038, Bilstein, Escort ,Cup ,Coil, Over, Kit, fire, hawk $1400 for a full koni coil over kit. i don't think it gets much better than that. it comes with all four shocks, whatever springs you want, etc. you can then delete the torsion bars (although some are very against doing this, and i really don't have an opinion yet nor have i done any research).

30mm torsion bars work out to be about 335lbs wheel rate. I think the biggest torsion bars i have seen are 31mm, but they may have been hollow which if i remember right has the same rate as a 30mm solid bar.

Oh alright. I guess I may have to go with coilovers. I want to do around 550-600 in the rear.

if $1400 is out of your budget for a full coilover setup, i don't know what to tell you. if you are going to install used shocks and struts, etc., that is not the best plan. don't get me wrong, i understand having a budget.
