Watertemp sensor?

Hmm,

I noticed a loose connection to some sort of sensor. The sensor is located just next to the throttle body and just underneath the intake manifold. Looked it up on the PET-system, it says: temprature sensor. Strange enough my temp gauge seems to function allright (maybe another sensor?) I'm not too happy with this, any suggestions what the sensor exactly does?

Hi Arnebret: There are two temp sensors on the car. One is for the gage and the other is for the DME.

Thanks, what sensor is where and what effect do they have?

Is the gauge-sensor just to display the temp of the water on the dashboard or does it have more functions? Or is the dme one responsible for all actions and measures when the water is too cold/hot?

Arne-

Are you looking at the one with the singe wire coming out the top with a black/round connector? If so, that's the temp sensor for the turbo waterpump.

Roger, that's the one... Strange, pump is working fine, doing his normal 25-30 seconds after-cooling etc..

I think the thermostat on the turbo housing can restart the water pump after the first 20 second run. Mine always runs for 20 seconds when the ignition is turned off. Subsequent runs are controlled by the thermostat on the turbo. Mine also runs occasionly at idle when engine is hot. And if you pull the connecter off and ground it (the thermostat is actually a grounding switch), the pump starts even without the key in the ignition. In that case it'll also run for the 20 second time interval. The relay controls the time, I think.

Hi Bro it sounds like your looking at the sensor for the turbo water pump, and run on system, for some reason this wire dosnt have a great connection so you have to pry the connector a lil bit so it fits tight as always put Dielectric grease on every connection for the DME system, this will prevent unwanted no starts............Stan
