Crank Breather tank by Lindsey racing??

I have been looking at the CRANK BREATHER TANK kit by Lindsey racing for my 951 but I wanted to hear from members that have used this system. So for those of you who have used this system on your car. What is your overall impression? What do/don't you like? and would you buy it again?

I like a sealed recirculaing system better, NO MESS under boost, but the LR will work fine.

i bought a saikoumichi can and decided to stay with the lindsey can because the saikoumichi unit does not open/separate, so there's no way to inspect/clean the inside of the can.

if saikoumichi had a screw-on top it would be a better choice.

thanks for sharing. also how full does it get after a day at the track? I'm just trying to figure out if I'll need to bring another container to pour it into at the track or if it can wait until I get home.

yeah, but it's not messy.

And, if you rig it up right, you can have it off with a single bolt (I bolted mine to a spot where the stock airbox was attached). There's a screw at the bottom to drain.

The amount you get in the can depends on some factors such as how well your crankcase is sealed (air / oil seperator o-rings and associated hoses running to the j-pipe) and how much blow by is getting past the rings.

My engine i would consider relatively healthy with 125k miles and usually i empty it every oil change (3-4k miles), accumulation is about 1/4 of a water bottle at most. It is mostly water with a little bit of oil mixed in.. looks like iced tea .

BTW, this is with the Saikou Michi catch can.

Why is catching it advantageous to having the vapors pass back through the engine along via the intake air? Someone please explain. I realize that when you suddenly close the throttle after a boost session, there might be momentary (until BOV opens) positive pressure that would pass to the oil separator but other than that, I don't see a problem with it.

The oil vapor being sucked through the intake track effectivley lowers the octane rating of the fuel mixture.

Also another advantage is that it keeps the intake tract much cleaner. Previously i would get a film of oil on almost everything from the compressor blades, charge pipes and intercooler. Not anymore.

OK, it lowers the octane number of the fuel mixture. That would be very much a function of how much pressure drop you get across your air filter as well as the crankcase pressure due to blow by.

For an average DD car this is not much of an issue. But if you track your car I have noticed that you start to get film built up in things like the intercooler which then make the intercooler less efficient that then robs you of HP.
