944 Turbo VS 944 Turbo S--New Member.

Hey guys i just joined the forum and wanted to get some info to educate my self about the Porsches Please bear with my ignorance and go easy on me
There's a guy in my town who might be selling his '88 944 Turbo 5-speed with 41k miles. The car has been repainted few months ago and looks pretty nice. I test drove the car the other day and though wasn't really impressed by the acceleration but still thought it car drove very solid.I currently own a BPU Twin Turbo Supra with 415 RWHP but trust me deep inside me i always wanted to own a wide body 911 turbo with a whale tail While i'm trying to read as much as possible about the Porsche's,i came across this 944 but i seem confused as to which one should i really look for ,a 911 turbo (91-93),a 944 Turbo S (247 hp) or this 944 Turbo any suggestions !
Later Yasir

Hey, welcome to the board, and beautiful car ya got there! I can't really gather from your post if you'll be upgrading the Porsche when you buy it, but knowing that will help you make a decision. If you're going to leave the car stock then go for a nice 944 Turbo S or a 964 Turbo! If you plan to mod, then consider just standard 944 Turbo ['86-'88]...AND again the 964 Turbo. It will take a lot more work to get the 944 Turbo up to the numbers you're getting from your Supra, and I don't think it will be as reliable or at home on a dyno. The 911 Turbo is a novelty car to own, if you can afford it then certainly go for that! The balance isn't as friendly but it's definitely got a mean engine [11/10ths of a liter bigger than the 944]. I guess it all depends on what you wish to do with the car...but either way a 911 will be sweet!

I own a 951 (944T) and must say the accel is pretty good... but you might wanna add some mods to really get under that 5secs you might now do with the Supra.
Either way, a '93 911 Turbo is a beauty and quicker than a 944T in every perspective. Get yourself a 911 Turbo, add some funny mods to them and 4 secs 0-60mph is possible tops of about 180+mph aren't too crazy for this car either. So if you're looking for specs take the 911!!

How about we make a little trade,951 for that supra?come on?lol
(Thats my next car)
Depends what your looking for
In my opinion,I know lots of supra guys and have learned much on them,i love my 951,but if your looking for awesome straight line accel,( sorry porsche guys!) do not buy a 951.It will be pointless
But if you want to have good straightline speed with awesome handling go for a turbo and/or Turbo S.
The way I see it is..the turbo S is more of a collectible so if you plan on going big on mods go for a regular turbo as in the end it will be a bit cheaper on the cash.
If you can dish out the cash, just get a 930 slantnose
