Erratic Idle/Turbo Spool Noise
Ok, so I've had a really bad week.
First, my Honda got wrecked. Guy made a left in front of me and it pretty much totaled the Accord. That's the car I count on to drive all during the winter and a lot of the summer. So I had to get the 944 out early, which isn't all bad I suppose. Oh, and he got a ticket and his insurance is paying me for it. But here's my CURRENT problem: I have to drive the 944 the next few days until I can get my Accord back in action. It was fine the last few days, but tonight it started having an erratic idle. I tried a search and got all kinds of answers, but mine is a little more specific. My turbo makes a spooling sound like it never did before, and it actually sounds kinda cool, but it never did that before, along with the idle problem. It also doesn't accelerate too well. The idling jumps all over the place, and it will actually stall if I don't monitor it. I'm hoping it's a vacuum leak, but would that make the turbocharger make all kinds of noise but no speed? I'm not driving it until I get this sorted out. |
Id be going in the vaccum leak direction first.

Missing the banjo bolt on the intake. Problem fixed!
It's never that easy... |
Lindsey Racing has that for under 10 bucks. It might take a bit of searching, but it's there.
That is supposed to go to your cycling valve, you know! If you do not have a cycling valve, that is supposed to be the correct takeoff to use for your boost controller In line! |
That's where I had to get it from. The dealer was no help finding the bolt. Should be here on Friday, so it's parked until then.
It snowed here, anyways :( |
