Porsche Crest Few Questions

First time poster here...

Got a 86.5 951 about a year and a half ago and have been slowly putting it back together since. Picked up the LR silicone hose kits and vacuum line kits and installed those before winter set in last year. Now I have free time again which means dropping $$ to get my lady up and running. While I'm anxious to get the car on the road, I know its a process and I want to do things right.

Anyways my questions:

Steering Rack:
There a write up anywhere on how to swap the power steering rack? My current rack is leaking from the seals so I purchased a good condition steering rack on eBay and plan to make the swap once it comes in.

Fuel lines:
Because the car's been sitting in a garage for the last 10 years (literally), I want to replace the fuel lines and filter. I already have a new filter waiting to be installed. Can anyone recommend fuel line replacements? Should i find OEM ones or go after-market? I looked at LR's fuel lines and they seem a bit pricey.
edit: Should I replace the FPR and dampener while I'm at it?

Timing Belt:
I've only driven the car less then 20 miles since purchase because I knew this would be a project. I don't know when the timing belt was done last and having an 05 VW GTI, I know this isn't something you should ignore. Is there a write up on how to do the timing belt that someone can link me? Any recommendations on which timing belt kit I should purchase? Would/should I get a new water pump and replace that as well? Also, anyone in lower CT with a tensioner tool that would be willing to assist/help me tension the belts? I do need to buy the timing belt kit first, so there is not really a rush on this, I just want to be prepared.

Heat shield for the hood:
The foam heat absorber that's on the hood is crumbling. Is this worth replacing?

If I think of more stuff I'll post it up.

Thanks in advance

Hello, The Search Function on here works great. One of the best sites for DIY Maintenance is Clark's Garage. com. Read over each section and you will find most answers to your
questions. The under hood foam can be removed and replaced. It does protect the paint on the hood. Buy a plastic painters floor cover to cover the engine compartment as it is a messy job. Classic 9 Leather sells the liner for $79.00.

Many options for fuel lines, LR, PauerTuning Pauer Tuning Home and Rennbay Rennbay.com : Home - Rennbay - Porsche 944 ball joints, power steering, brakes, odometer gears & accessories. I made my own lines using Aeroquip line (Same as what Rennbay uses) and it works well. Whatever kit you go with, get the kits that use bite rings at the hardlines. I do not recommend using the ones that connect at the hardline using a hose clamp. The most important line to replace is the jumper line from the damper to the fuel rail.

Not necessary to replace the regulator or damper unless they are leaking.

For the belts, check both LR and Pelican and work out the prices. I did the belts on my 951 a few months ago and found Pelican has the best price on new waterpumps but other places are cheaper for the other parts. In the end it all works out to be roughly the same price once you factor in shipping..etc. The Contitech or Gates belts are fine. New waterpump is not a bad idea if you do not know the last time it was changed. The general accepted service life on them is every other belt job or approximately 60-70k miles. Change all the rollers at the same time as the waterpump. While you have the belt covers off, consider resealing the balance shafts, front crank seal, replace the oil pump drive sleeve and both balance shaft sleeves.

For directions, Clarks is very good. Also check out on YouTube at the videos uploaded by Van.. YouTube - ‪vsvenson's Channel‬‏
