What part is it????
Ok, this is driving me crazy. My 87 944 Turbo is missing a trim piece that I cannot identify. Water and the elements bombarding the engine bay, especially the battery. It looks like there is a plastic trim piece missing that I've been trying to find on pelican's site, but have not been able to. Basically, I can see the battery and the terminals when I'm looking down at the base of the hood (on the windshield side). Does anyone know what this piece is? Its kind of tough to describe the piece, but again, it seems like it would be some sort of plastic trim. Can anyone help?

If it is the thin black plastic piece that covers the Air Blower Motor it is called "Cowl Cover". It runs around $90.00 from a Dealer + s/h. Fit from side to side, under the w/shield to firewall.

Even if this is the missing trim piece, you are still going to get water, rain and crud into this area, since this trim piece does not seal the area. There is a drain located in the corner of the battery compartment you will need to unplug if you have standing water in this area (there is also one located on the drivers side in about the same position).
Make sure you clean out the accumulated dirt, leaves, paper etc when clearing the drains. I make it a habit to run a stiff piece of wire through these drains and the drain located below the fuel filler neck every few months to keep them from clogging.

Seems like a poor design from the factory, since the battery terminals are exposed to the elements.
