cv to axle bolt

So, I go to do a little maintenance today and immediately get stuck. I don't have the correct socket to fit into the cv bolts. I thought it was a torx but it isn't. 12pt allen? I don't know. Does anyone know the term and size of the tool I need. Either that or I have to get the Snap on guy to drive to my house and get under my car. thanks

the local autoparts stores are carrying these, here, now. try schucks/checker.

Yeah, I bought a set of 4 from an auto parts store.
Had no prob. w/durability. I did have a prob. withe the diameter and the flats rubbing against the cv boot.
Took them to the tech school and asked instructor if he would have someone turn them down.
When I got them back, he said it was difficult to do because the material was so hard. So I think they are a good buy.
Believe you could buy 5 sets for the price of a single Snap-On tool.

thanks guys, most of my stuff is craftsman but my special tools especially something that looks as fine toothed as that is Snap on. Having said that I may look into the autostore ones, Snap on are crazy expensive. I want to say the same style socket (just bigger) I bought for my 928 flywheel was in the $50 range. at least I know what I need now!

i've tried a triple-square tool from harbor freight, schucks/orielly, and snap-on. i was not able to find one made by craftsman.

the snap-on tool fits and feels the best. the 'teeth' are sharp and practically cut right into the grooves for a solid no-slip fit.

it's the only snap-on tool i own and i think it's worth the investment to prevent stripping these pain-in-the-ass bolts.
