Poll: Quiet, 3" high-performance exhaust systems
Hi guys, I've found the perfect combination for my 951: had a full 3" downpipe, exhaust system made for my '88 turbo S using Stainless piping, welding, and specific polished Magnaflo muffler/oval tip to replicate the factory system. I also worked in a Tial 38mm into the system.
My car's wet & dirty due to weather today but will take pictures this weekend. What I'd offer is a full 3" SS downpipe with Tial 38mm provisions, to the factory cat/exhaust flange location, using factory sized flange. I'd also offer from that flange a full cat-back system using the polished magnaflo muffler & tip as per above. My car spins my 285/30's all through 2nd gear @ 17psi. All welds & hangers would be stainless steel as well. My car passes emissions w/o a catalytic converter but could offer one with the system upon request. Car is smooth, no rasp, a little louder/lower than stock but not drone-y. My smaller muffler (just now replaced) was louder, raspier, but not the big guy that's more closely sized to the OE muffler. So before I invest thousands on this setup for production (produced through a pro-welder for Boostlogic.com), I gotta ask: are you interested?? Mark.

does this setup include a 3" turbo top pipe, or does it bolt up to the stock turbo top pipe?
I've got an SFR/fabspeed 3" cat pipe center section, magna flow cat, with a stock turbo top pipe and 2.5" B&B cat back. Got in on a group buy for a fabspeed 2.75" top pipe that I have yet to put on. My setup is a bit of a mix. Interested to see what your setup looks like. Like the idea that it works directly with Tial without adapter plates. High flow cat option would be good. Might be interested in an entire system if its really slick, or just a 3" quiet cat back to go on the system I already have. I use the B&B 2.5 because I heard it was quieter than a 3"

I can have a 4" made, but 4" is usually reserved for 800+hp cars; how much you pushing?

"Quiet"?
How many dB does it make with the engine revved up to 4500rpm, with the sound level meter positioned 40" and 45° away from the tip?

I'll have db tests of it late next month: have that scheduled. It's slightly louder, slightly lower than stock. sounds good on revs, doesn't get progressively louder with revs.

Well, a bit of set back as far as photos go:
#1, still raining here. #2, someone hit my wife as she was on her way to get me on Friday from work so the rear end is no longer OE Perfect: I'm so pissed.

Around $550 is my target for the cat-back. The down pipe target price suited for the Tial 38 is around $450, and I'll probably offer a discount for both pipes purchased together.
I'm still getting compliments on how perfectly European ( smooth & non-raspy) the exhausts sounds
