spec aluminum flywheel pros and cons

Hey guys I am looking into buying a spec stage 2 clutch pressure plate and their aluminum flywheel. I have been trying to find info about the pros and cons of a lightweight flywheel for turbo cars with little luck. Some people are saying they will increase turbo lag, some the opposite. What are your thoughts? does anyone have any first hand experience?

I opted to lighten the stock flywheel to about 9lbs, stock is about 14-15lbs. Much better throttle response out of gear which makes it easier to heel toe and improves shifting due to the faster RPM drop. The only downsides i have noticed are the car will occasionally stall when clutching in and going to neutral after accelerating hard too redline. I have not noticed any difference in getting the car started from a stop.. even in traffic.

In my personal opinion, i think the Spec and Fidanza flywheels are a little too light (less than 6lbs) for a street car.. i would only recommend it for a track (road course) car. For a street and even auto-x car i recommend just lightening the stock flywheel.

I know a good machine shop in Baldwin that can lighten and balance your flywheel / clutch assembly for a very reasonable price. Let me know if you decide to go this route. Also if it interests you, i will be selling the clutch setup from my car in a few weeks.. it is a 930 clutch disc, lightened stock flywheel and a KEP stage 1 pressure plate. Should be good to hold roughly 600ft-lbs of torque and is not much stiffer than stock. I am putting in a V8 so wont be needing it anymore.

thanks for the info. How many miles are on the clutch setup and how much money would you be looking to get for it.
