Moving down in size from 18" rims to 17" rims on a 1987 944 Turbo

I have some beautiful 18" Turbo Twist rims on my 87 944 Turbo presently but they are no good for the streets of NYC....bad ride and blown front tires. I'm looking at some Porsche Cup 2-17 x 7 and 17 x 9 rims that I believe have the 5 X 130 bolt pattern as they came from a Porsche 993. Two questions-

Should these fit and are there any other considerations I need to look at like offset and if so what do I need??

What tire sizes are good for these rims on my car?

Thanks

993 Cup wheels will bolt right up to your 87 951.

As for tire size, I prefer 225/45/17 up front and 255/40/17 in back, but on the 7 inch 993 wheels some folks will run 205/50/17s)

I have 3 sets of 17" CupII wheels for my 87 944. The 7" ET55 front and 9" ET55 rear setup from a 993 fits nicely but leaves lots of space between tire and fender. I've found the 8" ET52 Euro 993 option wheel is great in the front, fitting the fender better and carrying a 225 width tire more comfortably. And actually the 9" ET55 wheel fits up front too. In the rear I'm thinking of adding a 10-15mm spacer to get the tire out to the fender lip.

Yeah, isn't it great? I found that calculator years ago and keep it bookmarked on all my computers, use it all the time.
