Two things from removing the old one - it had obviously been opened before. The black plastic cover easily came off in my hand, not the factory sealant. Secondly, I can obviously see the grooves across the resistor. Thanks for the vid (link) kdollar, it really helped me see how to repair the one I have. Hopefully this weekend I can get the other one in and test it out.

More bizzare

Mine seem to be a bit more complicated to understand... I bought it in may and the engine went off twice on the road... First occurrence lasted 15 minutes and it restarted.. Second, on the highway! But it restarted 10 seconds later (on compression mode ). I changed the TPS and O2 sensor and thought the problem was solved... No! Still there but in no specific time or temperature or if I pushed the engine hard... No it's random... I'm waiting for the Oil pressure sender... Any thing else could cause this? The only reason I could find is heat... But not out of ordinary and it should always happen.

Thanks,

The AFM was the fix! Decent test drive today (finally), and no more stumbling/stutter. Now to repair the old one and keep as a spare.
