The swapmeet
I went to the Porsche thing at the california speedway today, was my first Swapmeet/gathering/event and I must say this: "I loved it!" They had Porsches doing laps (LOUD MOTHA*****'S!!), several companies had booths set up, including Meguires, H&R spring, and Pelican guys were there (next time, just bring the wharehouse!) and "Those Other Guys who operate out of Van Nuys and sell @ a larger markup and we're not gonna mention thier name and sully this bbs" were there, too. I got there about 1-ish, and I guess I missed the 944 parts people, cuz I didn't see much in that vien, but there were quite a few 944's out racing (turbos, of course). They had cars going on all day and I walked around with constant wood. I got some pics and i'll put em on my site when I get them developed.

Yes, It was a blast. Perhaps you missed Lordgrommit (Matt) and WolfPRI (Eric) "pimpin'" parts off the Turbo S they recently parted. They had a few choice parts and managed to make off w/ 175 of my dollars for the S parts I couldn't live without. Perhaps you should have gotten there earlier, they had good stuff.
The track event was intoxicating. I vowed several times that day that I would be out there next year (licenced) and turnin' 170 down the strait/arc ![]() The 996 based GT3 car sounded so much different than any of the other big dogs on the track and the guy driving it just smoked everyone. Very cool. Very expesive too. I saw Steve R. there and helped him change a fuel line on his 951 while annoying the h*ll out of him w/ questions I'm sure. He swapped out a dead K27 turbo in the same car that morning with Chris Cervelli (Technodyne) helping him IN 2 HOURS FLAT! He da Man! Hmmm. . . even though San Diego PCA sponsored the event, No Huntley, No SFR, you know the tuners who tout their racing campagins as fodder for their sales on another famed list. Well, maybe next year I guess. Vision was there in force w/ 2 951's, so was Hergeshimer and as mentioned Technodyne. I was there all day until the track shut down and everybody was hoisting beers. I think the best all around event (in So Cal.) of the year by far. Many, many thanks to Tom and Wayne and the San Diego region PCA. I just wish they would allow BBQ's next year. Look for me at the next Quallcomm autocross, I need 4 of these under my belt before next years event! Matt Big Bear Lake, CA |
