Motor mount recommendations

I'm due to replace the (original) motor mounts on my 87 Turbo, and am looking for the 'latest' information or experiences regarding the variety of different brands available out there. What does the 951 gang have to say regarding using the genuine Porsche parts vs the others. By others I am refering to Corteco, Uro, Hamburg. and Meyle.

I'm kind of confused with wide the price range and looking for some feed back. I certainly don't care to have to do the job twice due to to a poor choice of brands.

Thanks for you help.

As in anything else, you get what you pay for price wise, That being said Hamburg Technic engine mounts are the least likely one I'd install, Made in China. URO next, Corteco and the best is original Porsche OEM Mounts. The Motor Mounts are a PITA to change so I only wanted to change them out one time. The Porsche OEM mounts will cost right at $500.00 if you change them out yourself.

Cheers,
Larry

Larry,
Thanks for the input. Yes, this is a job I don’t want to repeat a year later due to mounts that won’t last, and you right Porsche is quite proud of their ‘hydraulic’ mounts at $500. a pair. And I don’t doubt the $80. a pair China aren’t in the same league. But, isn’t there a ‘good’ reproduction of the Porsche mount for less than $500?
Phil

Hi Phil, At the top of this page on the left side is a block "Enter Description", Type in "944 Engine Mounts". That will bring up what is offered by Pelican Parts. The Hamburg Technic will last a little over a year and then need to be replaced. The URO maybe 1 1/2 - 2 years, The Mahle are the next best 2 - 3 years. The Corteco, I don't know about but they are only $38 each less than OEM Porsche Engine Mounts.

Cheers,
Larry

Larry,
I guess I will wait a little longer and save some of my lunch money and purchase the Porsche mounts and avoid having to spend another half day under the car changing them again in two years. Thanks for your input.

there was a way to get porsche factory mounts for cheaper, sold as a non-factory OEM mount. i forget the details, but one specific vendor had them in stock. they were the genuine factory mount that had the porsche 'PV' logo ground off, so they could be sold as OEM. not sure if they are still available though. you might want to try searching old threads for the details.

Thanks for the lead on the possible Porsche factory mounts available from OEM supplier. I will run a search looking for the thread. If anyone else has any information on this, please let me know.

Lindsey has some nice mounts. I run and love the solid mounts on my 86 na, but they do have a semi solid.

I installed Porsche mounts. They were definitely more expensive, but it's a miserable job to do, and not one you want to do again.

The engine mounts that "Nize" was talking about were "REIN" The PV and Fox were ground off. These mounts were OEM Mounts and now are hard to find.

Cheers,
Larry

Larry,
I checked the Rein website and they no longer list having 944 motor mounts. Their supply must have been depleted. Thanks for the information.

Chicks,
Are the Lindsey mounts the hydraulic type (liquid filled)? Any one have any experience with these?

Thanks, Phil

the rein mounts were not available directly from rein, i recall i had to get them from a third party supplier. but before ordering them, i called on the phone to have them visually verify they were the factory mounts with the PV ground off. i can't remember the supplier though. arg.

Nize,

Thanks for all the "post searches". I believe I'm not going to take any unnecessary chances with OEM and aftermarket mounts. I'm going to shop Pelican, Vertex, Sonnen Porsche (& any other recommended source) for the best shipped price for the genuine Porsche hydraulic mounts.

Phil
