Possible head gasket problem
I have the engine out of the car. Oil cooler is still in the car. Can I compression test and get accurate results? I know I'll have oil coming out of the engine. Should I put the engine in? If it's a piston ring can I repair that from the top? I don't want to put the engine back in the car then have to take it out. Had some water and oil mixing. Just did the heads last year so very frustrated with the car. I thought it was my oil cooler housing on the engine that was the problem.
Thanks again everyone for the help. |

If you are looking for a gross problem, then just do the test outside of the car.
If you put it back in and have to drop the oil pan (to replace a piston), you will have to drop the crossmember, so it's not going to be worth your while to do it that way.
