door locked

Hi helping a buddy do some work on his 86 944T and we had been opening and closing the drivers door without any issues Today, now, the door will not open, The door lock push button appears to be up but will not move frozen Using the inside or outside handles does nothing They both go thru their full range of movement with no feeling of any load on them at all. Tried the key in the exterior lock, will move but does nothing

I can wedge open the gap at the top of the door where the glass goes in BTW door glass is down I can see the connection to the power door lock is disconnected and tried to move the linkage on the door catch that is connected to that and it won't budge

Also power has been off for a couple of days so that should not have an impact on the door catch

If I have to, can I get the door panel off with the door closed??

Thanks, Rick

Use the passenger door as a template for the driver door. Remove the door panel, operate the keylock and the lock knob to see what it moves on the latch.

Then, with the driver window up, use a slim jim to operate the latch until the door is unlocked. Remove the driver door panel until you get the mechanism completely correct and working.

No, there is no way to remove the door panel with the door closed, at least without damage to the door panel.
