Koni Sport Struts
Anyone out there using Koni Sport Struts and if you are or are familiar with them then I'd like to hear from you. I have a 1987 944 Turbo and I'm looking at changing front struts and rear shocks. It's an everyday driver and I'm looking more towards comfort and smooth ride on bumpy roads.
Any other suggestions are welcome also!! Thanks

I have the same struts plus MO3O sway bars, 30mm torsions in rear and 400 lb progressive coils in front on my 87 Turbo. It rides nice on the street but works pretty good on track, autocross, mountain twisties, etc.

Thanks abporsche1. The stock fronts springs are 150-200?? How was the ride before the M030 sway bar?

I have koni shocks on my 1987 turbo, but I would not call the ride comfortable, especially on bumpy roads. My daily driver VW CC is on Eibach springs and Bilstein B6 sport shocks and it is way more comfortable (if you even can use that word) than my Porsche

Which Koni's do you have smudo??? Are they the Sports?? The reason I ask is I've been told that the Sports have a greater range of adjustment than previous ones and I wondered if they were adjustable to the point of comfort on bumpy roads.

I have the Koni's on my 89 951 just turned 70k miles. Being an 89 it has the MO3O suspension with the sport shocks. I am going full coil over and will be selling these in 2 weeks. PM if interested.

I have a set of Koni strut assemblies. These are complete and ready to install.

Good question. I bought the car already with those shocks, thus unfortunately I cannot answer your question. I also do not know whether they are adjusted to "comfort" or "sports" mode. As I said, if the roads are good, they are OK, but if you have bumpy roads or potholes then they will nor provide comfortable ride.

I'm interested in this topic as well. I'm looking to upgrade from 25+ year old Sachs Struts and considering going with Koni Sports. I'd like a firm ride but it will primarily be a street driven car 99% of the time. Was thinking 250 lb springs.

P.S. Does anybody know whether this is gas or hydraulic shock? I have Bilstein B6 on my other car and from the ride these feel more like hydraulic ones but I am not sure. |

Thanks Smudo. I would assume that it's hydraulic like all of the other Koni's I've seen.

If found Koni shocks manual where they said that they manufacture both types, depending what suites more respective car. But I agree that those most probably are hydraulic ones.
