87 Turbo - Control arm
I am replacing the oil pan and had to remove the control arms and cross member.
The control arms have worn out ball joints, so I am looking at the rebuild kits. I checked a Rennbay video on how to install the ball joint kit, however the control arm and underside of the ball joint socket from my car looks different than that on the video. On the video, they show a slot where a circlip fits. Mine looks smooth as one piece. I would like to know how to take apart the ball joint in my car. Also, the front control arm bushing, how does it come out? I am having a difficult time taking it out. Thank you Raulg |

Most likely the bottom of your ball-joint has epoxy on it to seal and retain the circlip. Try scraping with a knife and see if the epoxy can be removed.
Post a photo so we know what you're looking at. |

I burned out the innards and then collapsed the sleeve with a chisel. However that may have been a little extreme...
[QUOTE=JAXTURBO;6645309]What a timely and neat thread. Among a whole host of stuff, I rebuilt my control arms and installed a 3" sport exhaust system... ![]() ... burning out the OEM bushings
