Porsche Crest 951 turbo 1986, Pandoras' box..

Ok so you buy a 951 Turbo, made in Germany in 1986 for a few pennies..No service history, no owners manual, odometer reading 90.345, and You test drive it and notice that the odometer doesnt work.
The seats have cheap covers, the dash is cracked, the non original paint job is shinny but nasty, the car stands 3" from the ground, and the guys that wants to sell it to you is an egyptian. (no offence to Egyptians).

What would you do????!!!

Well I look at it and thought...."it will be my pride and joy in a year from now"...

1 week later, the car is at the garage, and it needs a new clutch, new steering rack, oil leaks galore, tyres, etc , etc .etc.

A month later the 951 no longer marks the spot, the power steering works, but every day a new issue arrises...

Which leads me to this question...

Did an 951 come with both electric and manual adjustments for the drivers seat? If no, can anyone tell me why I can adjust them using the mechanical leavers, and why I have a bunch of wires hanging from the left hand side of my drivers seat???!!

Thanks
coupe

My 86T has manual back tilt and manual front and rear movement. Two switches on the side raise the front and rear separately. Someone on this list or the other 944 list has '86 seats for sale last week. Posted on this or other list. They are black and in good condition so he said.

Hi Lawrance. Thanks for that info. This morning I found 4 wires dangling from the seat. I tried shorting them in varios combinations but nothing happened.
The fuse in the fuse box is good. Maybe the power supply to the seat is totally missing. I'll have to check.

If anyone else has any thoughts let me know.

Thanks

There is a plug under the seat where it gets its power.

While the boss was away, I quietly removed the drivers seat, and sneaked it into my workshop. I found 2 electric motors, and the wires that dangled were connected to these.

Both the operating switches and holder are missing, so my friend Steve and I used a common 3 position switch with a total of 6 contacts, just to test the motors.

The motors work beautifully. These switches are out of stock here at the Porsche dealer, so I will just get 2 ordinary switches and fit them in place, I;ll also make a plate to mount them.

I checked the connecter underneath the seat, and there is approx. 13 volts DC. So all being well, it will all be fixed by tomorrow.

Thanks for your help Lawrence.
