Question So much fuel dumping it won't crank over?

Nightmare story, I bought a 951 that the original 66 year old owner was selling with a fuel pump sender fuse problem. The problem seemed to be resolved by changing the fuse. He still wished to sell it. I loaded it on my trailer as I didn't know I would be able to start it. It ran for about an hour in his driveway and up onto the trailer. I left it overnight and this morning it won't start. It wirls and then clunks. I pulled the plugs and hit the key and it wirled again but spit fuel across my entire shop and the car. Dripping from the hood. Unbelievable. Can someone please help. I was doing so good and now the miss's is looking at me like I should have bought a new couch instead. Can someone please, please help.
Thanks Scott.
