newly acquired 951
After I sold my Dark Green 944, I had separation anxiety and found a hot deal on ebay for an '86 944 turbo. I jumped on it and it was delivered today. Brakes don't work after they heat up (it was 9 degrees in Indy) but now it's here in Florida. I've already ordered new drilled Zimmerman rotors and considering which pads to use since I won't track the car but might do a turn or two on the autocross tracks. Ordering Hankooks for it after doing a bunch of research on TireRack. Still a list of things to finish before I put it back on the street, but that's what I love doing. The car goes like a scalded cat. I'm still learning about how to drive and what to expect with the turbo car. I wish there was a book or a video on vacuum and boost expectations when driving the car.

Here's the one I have when I picked it up. It has 18" turbo twist wheels from 911 and a fair amount of work to get it right. It hasn't had a bath in a while and it arrived noon today. I started right in working on it. Texas car so no rust, not even in the battery box. Road test was interesting. Nine degrees outside and cold tires made it exciting when the turbo took over.

New Hankook rubber yesterday, Brake pads and rotors this weekend but an issue that has me concerned a bit: The trans had a leak from the bottom where the cooling loop is attached and I don't know how long it has been going on. Yesterday I was driving it and started to hear some gear noise when decelerating. I think the trans lube has run out and I need to fix the leaky seal and re-service the trans. The PO used Kendall synthetic 75-90 in the trans and I know that there's a history of using synthetic on older cars causing leaks. Whether this is one or not, I'm wondering if there's a recommended way to flush the trans and cooling loop before replacing with Redline 75-90? Also, How much does this system use, since my previous basic 944 didn't have the loop and used just under a litre?

Hello, I'm new to the board and new to owning a 951. I've owed N/A's in the past but have always wanted a 951 and finally got one 2 weeks ago. I'm very excited because not only has it been mildly modified, but also a rare color - Nile Green w/Camel and black interior. Sadly, though, it hasn't been cosmetically taken care of... It's not "junked up", but does need attention in pretty much all areas.

I just sold a Nile Green 944 N/A and bought a white 951. Now the fun begins, going front to back, makine everything solid and reliable. Stay in touch. We'll be able to help each other get through the "fun".

Sounds great! Love your white one, btw! I almost bought a white one myself then came across this green one. I still remember all the quirks of N/A's but am new to the 951 side of their personalty. I actually have one leak I can't find. It's on the driver's side, it looks like oil but according to the oil level I'm not losing any.

I wasn't too crazy about a white car but after seeing the Martini Race Team graphics, I'm thinking this would be fun car to reproduce that aura and take it to car shows and stuff. Even my wife is excited about the idea. she has a boxster.
I decided to name the car "Casper". ![]() Right now going bumper to bumper to get everything done to make sure the car is tight and dry. Unfortunately, each day I find something else that needs another part or parts that I've received were incorrectly sent (4 front rotors?). Delay, delay, delay. Trying to smile.

It is oil. I got under it today with a light to look and it the oil trail goes up to the turbo. Maybe the oil feed line? Got a new air filter and air flow meter. Put them on. My 3.0 bar fuel regulator should be here tomorrow. Also waiting on a call back from a body shop on a price for a repaint. The Martini idea sounds awesome! I've always been a big fan of the graphics. I haven't named mine yet.

I like the look of the car with the Carerra wheels on it. I'm always waiting for parts to come in for the long list of stuff I'm working on. Even though it's taking time, it's like a mini-Christmas when another one shows up.

Since I had the fender liner out for new fuel lines, I decided to have the Dent Doctor come out and remove a couple of quarter-sized dents in the passenger side fender. The guy did amazing work, so check that off the to-do list.

lol. It's been like mini-Christmas at my house too. I've gotten an AFM, new air filter, sunroof seals, and a 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator. I've been riding around to body shops getting estimates on a respray. I wish all mine needed was a visit from the Dr. Dent.

I'm not out of the woods yet. There's obvious places where the paint's going to need some attention but It's white and easy to match.
