Cycle Valve & Manual Boost Controller

Hope you're all well. I have spent the past day researching topics in regards to cycle valves and manual boost controllers. I recently acquired my 87 Turbo and, it has a manual boost controller installed (along with a boost gauge and a A/F gauge). I am currently doing a venturi delete and overall cleaning the engine up a bit. I made my way to the cycle valve and decided to research it a bit. Appears as individuals with manual or automatic boost controllers tend to delete this item as essentially I now have a boost controller on top of a boost controller? However, there also appears a lot of controversy about deleting the cycling valve in general - and, I haven't been able to find a true DIY on doing so. Can someone chime in and help me out? The car has a BORLA exhaust, a chip of some sort (I still haven't checked what kind), and this boost controller. Otherwise it is stock. Look forward to getting some help! Regards, Paul |
1. Get some 3/8" ID fuel hose, DO NOT use flexible vacuum hose for boost-control.
2. Locate manual boost-controller where you want it. Cut length of 3/8" hose to connect it to intercooler pipe banjo-bolt. 3. Cut length of hose to go from boost-controller outlet to wastegate diaphragm. 4. Unplug CV return line from J-boot and insert plug into J-boot Initially adjust the controller for low-boost. Then gradually increase boost until the desired level is reached. You should have all supporting mods for the boost-level you want to run: 3-bar FPR, chips with matching fuel & ignition maps (or programmable system). Also very good idea to have wideband O2 system to monitor for correct AFR. |
did you check Lindsey Racing web site? they have several variations of vac line configs. elim CV, Venturi delete, manual boost controller, etc.
