Trans input shaft play

So what is the fix? The input shaft to trans has a bit of rotational play. Its a 89 aos limited slip trans. The problem is driveline slack, replaced axles and when i checked rotational play it seems to have a bit on the input shaft.

Thanks

More than likely it's the ring and pinion... that has the rotational play (AOS (Short 5th Gear) LSD is a 40% Locker) are u sure its not an (AOR LSD with 60% - cause all 89 Turbos came with AOR Transaxles... I think?)...take the wheel while mounted with the car in neutral and work the wheel back and forth as hard as you can... do u hear a clunking sound coming from the transaxle?
Also have someone hold one side of the cars wheel and don't let it rotate while trying to turn the other side of the cars wheel in the going forward motion of the cars wheel if the 40% LSD is working properly it will be a little hard to turn... if it's spins with no tightness then the LSD locker is bad. If it has a AOR LSD it will be harder to rotated the wheel because it has a 60% locker!
This is a quick and easy test to perform to get a base line where your problem('s) are coming from.

wondering if maybe might have a clutch issue, without pressing the clutch to the floor and the car on ground with trans in neutral i have little play in the driveshaft from the engine to the trans. I am checking throu the trans inspection hole with the shaft still connected to the trans.

Should be very very little to zero play on the TT shaft with the clutch disengaged.

Sounds like something going on in your clutch.
