Inherited 944T

Last may my father in law died and we became the very proud owners of his baby... an 86 944T with a performance chip. We want to continue his legacy by keeping up this car and enjoying it the way he did. It is a hoot to drive and is in awesome shape. I am trying to learn about this car so I am asking for any advice on what I can do to keep it up and make it better. I am in the MN area so if there is any locals, it would be cool to meet up and race around. I want to learn more about the car and share what I learn.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Paul.

The first thing to do is to look at the sticky at the top of the forum.

Ask questions as you go...

If you want 'hands on' help, check with the local PCA club, Nordstern.org, a few there own 951s. I belong to that club, (from WI), but now reside in AZ. They hold an event at Road America each summer, if yer interested in tracking the car. Also, their 'home' track is Brainerd International Raceway. Autoedge in Mahtomedi is a great place for repair work, if needed. Otherwise, use the search tool here for basic information.

You need a photo account on the 'internets' like Photobucket, to have a URL.

I guess that I will have to get a photobucket acct.
Cockerpunk, Our car is in excellent shape except for the cracks in the dash. I will keep you in mind as I start to spend more time going through it though.

Ok so here is a question, How hard do you drive your cars? I kind of want to dump the clutch and give hell....... I have a CTS so I am not a stranger to performance...

Looks like it has been resprayed?

Do you have a picture of the rear of the car? I see an emblem that shouldn't be there.

Thanks all, I am in the MPLS area. Yes the car was resprayed .... and not the best work. I don't know who re-painted the car but they used the factory paint. My father in law had the can of the paint. I am looking to get it professionally re-done. Any suggested places? What is the emblem that shouldn't be there? It has the 944 on the left and Turbo on the right.....?
Being that my father in law passed away last year I am at a loss for the history of the car and what he did to it. He kept good records that I am still going through. It has an aftermarket performance chip and that he rear ended his truck in his driveway......hence the re-spray.

I'm located in Hudson, WI just to the east of the cities. Have an '88 turbo s, a 92 968, and 82 911. Hudson is beautiful in the summer on the river, so if you are out our way look me up. Good luck with that 86! You are going to love it!
