951 Belt replacement and...

Just bought a 951. No previous experience with 944's. Planning on changing belt, rollers, and water pump since not sure the last time it was changed.

Any other maintenance or mods I should do at the same time?

Any general advice or tips for new owner including any shops in the Houston, TX area?

87 w/ 190k. Just bought and not a lot of known maintenance history. Oil change is def happening. Debating other common maintenance like spark plugs, dist, rotor, etc.

With a "no history" car like this, I recommend priority items: Timing and Balance belts first (check idlers and rollers, water pump shaft for leaks and smoothness). Then, fuel filter, Oil change, Air filter, spark plugs, rotor and cap, check all vacuum lines for connection and condition. After you get beyond this stuff to the point of engine running, there'll usually be an endless list of items to repair or replace to get the car 100%.

I'm restoring one that has needed EVERYTHING. What an education turbo cars are.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

When I had my timing belt done, the front seals were also replaced.

Check the fuel lines, especially the two coming from the wheel well and the smaller curved one near damper. My fuel lines were hard as rock after 30 years and increasing FP from 2.5 to 3 bar created leak.
