Rear Hatch Squeak

Title says it all. I have done a fairly complete search of the technical forums and have not found an answer.

I determined that the latch pin holder impinges upon the body and that by inserting a piece of tool box drawer liner, the squeak is eliminated. Is there a way to adjust the position of the entire rear hatch forward to clear the interference?

I am looking for a long term fix.

Hatch wear pattern:

Sounds like your hatch may be separating, causing this. Look up near the hinges and see what's going on.

To answer your question, yes the hatch can be repositioned via the hinges, but you will have to take some of your headliner apart to get to it.

I have the same problem, and I think I will try a few layers of rubber insulating tape to stop the squeak.
