Salvaged '93 C2

I am considering buying a '93 C2 with very low mileage that was crashed, bending all four corners. It has a salvage title. The tub was professionally straightened, and thats all that has been done to it. I just want the 3.6 motor out of it, but will have to buy the whole car. It runs and drives, but the glass is out of it, front fenders were replaced, rear sheetmetal still bent, suspension is straight. I know this is tough to answer without details, but any opinions as to whether a car like this would have any value without an engine? I really didn't want to try parting it out as that could take months/years. To me, it would seem that it's best use may be as a race car project.

Some people state that a car with a salvaged title is worth about half what a clean title car would be...and thats after the works done to get it back in good shape...It would be nice to keep it from being parted out. Good luck/skill.

I also have a question about "salvage" titles.... I have found 2 rs america's in the past 6 months that have that sort of title or "rebuilt" title. In both cases the current owners have told me they were theft recovery and not accident cars. Whether or not thats true i do not know. Either way i am interested in the one i am currently looking at, but really have no basis for its valuation. I see prices of the 964's have been taking a huge hit recently, yet the RS America's still draw a high premium. So the question is what is a RS worth with that sort of title assumeing the car is in tip top shape with around 50k miles? Any help here would be great... thanks trader220@aol.com

It is worth what you pay for it. There is no accepted barometer like a kbb, edmunds, etc for a salvaged vehicle. My personal opinion is as long as it was done right AND I plan to keep it for a LONG time, buy it. However, if you have any intentions of selling in the near future, buy a clear titled car.
