993 standard lifters
Hi there
when you replace 993 valve lifters do you put oil in them before installation? I think i used to do that but it has been a while since i did this job... thanx for any re.. Ivan

While the lifter replacement procedure from Porsche doesn't mention soaking in oil, it's common practice with any hydraulic lifter/lash adjuster. If it's a situation where the car is already together and that step was skipped, I'd pull the DME relay and crank the engine over and get oil pressure flowing for a moment before it actually pops over and hits high/cold idle and makes a racket.
EDIT: I'll also add here that 20w-50 oil will take forever to prime the lifter, some regular 5w-30 is probably in order here just to not waste your life away waiting for the bubbles to all come out.
