Removing hydraulic lifters from rocker?
Is there a non destructive way to removing hydraulic lifters from rocker?
This is in my 83 with a 95 993. I have the motor out to deal with some leaking at the chain covers and I’ve always been bothered by a ticking coming from the motor which I assume to be bad lifters. This is the lower left side closest to driver which I though I could hear using a stethoscope as being the worst. Since the motor is out I figured I inspect and maybe replace them, but is a a video grip the only way to pull it from the rocker? Thanks ![]() ![]() |

Came up with this after seeing the holes go all the way through.
Seemed to work. Turns out the seals ar not nice and new but old and brittle so I feel ok about the effort to check them. The next issue is which size. I’ve searched a fair bit and i think you can go by the engine number. Not sure how you would measure the existing ones to be honest. Anyone know what number from the motor I’m looking for and where? The price difference between the standard length for non Porsche but Oem is $33 for 1. $400 for all 12. If I need the size 1 than I’m looking at $621 per which is an mind blowing $7,450 for all 12 before tax. That is beyond ludicrous. Toby ![]() ![]() |
