Oil Hose Pressure/ Brown Alternator Wire
Hi I have 2 questions on a 964.
1. Regarding the oil hose that goes from the oil filter to the thermostat and the supply and return hoses that exit the thermostat and into the oil cooler- Are those hoses pressurized or does the oil just flow through those hoses until it makes it way back to the oil tank? -Is the only hose that is pressurized some is from engine case to oil filter? 2. There are 2 thin brown wires going to the ground stud on the alternator that come from the engine harness. Where do those wires go in the harness/ what are they for? I dont see ground in the 14 pin connector diagram where the engine harness connects. thanks Last edited by JHP; 10-19-2021 at 01:53 AM.. |

![]() ![]() Oil Pressure is highest at the crank & rods and drops off a bit as it passes through the rest of the system. It must have pressure when it passes through the thermostat to the front of the vehicle and the oil cooler, and still have pressure as it returns back. Only place the oil pressure drops off to zero would be as it enters into the oil tank. Actual pressures at these points is unknown to me. Someone else here on this forum will know. Lots of smart people own Porsches. Brown wires are ground wires, but there must be a large braided ground strap of some sort there as well. Len ![]() |
