Rear subframe and control arm bushing replacement

Hi all,

Does anyone has pointer to instruction / documentation on how to replace these bushings? I am able to find a few threads online that talks about bushing selection and review of the end result, but none talks about the procedure to replace them. Is it difficult, and if it is DIY-able, can someone share their experience and instruction with us? Thanks!

Regards,
Matthew

I have replaced the rear subframe bushings I had a tech buddy do the A arm front bushings, on the rear once the subframe is removed you can see a small indent big enough for a large flat screwdriver or maybe tire iron to wedge beneath then pry and the bushing will pop out whole .
The reverse is just popping them in and hitting with a sledge or appropriate sized mallet.
The fronts on the other hand can take use of heat to burn the bushing itself out then cleaned either blasted or dipped and the then the new bush is pressed in..Bert

Hi Matthew

The rear controls arm are easy. Heat them to approx. 100 degrees C en then press out the bushing in a vicehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644687243.jpg

From the front arm you have to drill out the bushing center part and then make a cut with a saw in the outer part ( be carefull not to damage the control arm). Use a chissel to hammer out the bushing

You can quite easy with some homemade tools press in the new bushings using a vice

The cost to replace a control arm bushing will vary greatly depending on the make and model of your vehicle. The cost for a new bushing ranges between $5 and $150.
