Engine bracket colors Hey, I started to clean the engine area and was cleaning one of the gold colored brackets as seen in the picture and the plate went to an aluminium colour. I was using a very fine surface cleaner on it. I then tried just WD40 at the lower part and the Aluminium look started to come through? Now is it that they are aluminium colour and they have just got tarnished over time, or are they plated with a gold color? If plated it really shouldn't come of so easy. All comments very welcomed. Originally the parts were CAD Plated which gave it the gold appearance and corrosion protection. CAD plating is no longer available but Zinc plating can provide a similar appearance and better protection. Any mild abrasive will remove the original plating unfortunately, especially if the car was exposed to salt. |

Is that a loose hose clamp sitting there? |

Hey, Thanks for this and I found one liquid from Germany from https://www.tifoo.de/gelbchromatierung that seems it could do a good copy of the colour. I could do quite a lot of coating with this bottle:) As for the loose clamp Cobalt mentioned, yes it seems to be missing the plastic clamp of the top. I am unsure what the name or part number of this is so I can check from Rose Passion to get it. Cheers Alex |
