Shark fin alignment with bottom bracket

Hey,

So I just made a repair to one of the Sharks Fin plastic holders that broke of then attached it back to the car.
I tightened up the plastic nuts but when I went to put the self tapper to the lower part of the fin the holes would not align up.

Putting pressure to bring it in to alignment started to force the fin away from the body actually to the same plastic holder.
I suspect this pressure was probably what broke it off in the 1st place.

Any suggestions what could be causing this and other than drilling a new hole in to the Sharks fin I am unsure what to do.

From the picture I think you can see how far the holes are away from each other.

Thanks for your help as always.

have you tried loosening the 10mm bolt that holds the other end of that bracket. Also maybe a previous owner installed the bracket backward. If my memory is votrect there us a slot in. one end of the bracket

Hey,

Well I did not think of that but I will try that this weekend.

Big thanks.

I was wrong on the bracket having a slot in one end but the holes are larger than the bolt and screw so the is some in and out adj

Hey,

I took the part of yesterday and as you said there are no slots.
Also I cannot find a part number on the part either.

Unless the bracket is wrong or the plastic part is wrong I have no idea where the issue is.

looks to be the correct part. leave the end that attaches to the body loose see what you can get. try swapping it end to end It should fit. Your shark fin looks to be positioned the same as mine around the oil drain plug so I doubt that is the problem

I will try to get a picture of mine this evening. Mine was missing one side when I received my car and I sourced the part and had no issues installing it.

I would loosen everything and start over. There should be a metal washer with a step that fits in the shark fin that protects it from breaking P/N 94450325500

Try Sunset or suncoast they can get you the part. Pelican won't let me post links to their competitors although they don't offer it for sale.

I agree with Cobalt on loosening everything and then see if you have enough wiggle room to make the connection that cannot currently be made.

If that fails I would look at the mounting points of the bracket and the rocker to see they are damaged or somehow displaced. Or see if the bracket is bent.

Oh and you should not have to do this, but you can make the bracket hole into a slot with a file or a rotary burr, if worst comes to worst.
