Loose inner windshield seal

Hi all, i have a part of the windshield seal on the inner side that appears to have gotten loose somehow. The car has been sitting for 8 years.

Do i need a new seal or do i just need to epoxy this back into place?

That looks like the seal has split in two. You’d need to replace the seal to fix it correctly

Thank you for this. I’m trying to find the correct part number to order a new seal.

Does anyone happen to know which number this is? I’m not sure if I’m seeing the inner seal or the outer seal.

Also yes, this is a 993.

I said your seal looked torn based on me thinking 964 not 993 I know nothing about 993s They use different seals I think there is an inside seal and an outside seal and the glass is glues in not held in by a seal like on a 964.
Search is your friend did a quick one 993 use an inner and and outer seal so my guess the inner seal has come loose just a guess Ive never seen a 993 in person

I agree the seal is noted in the PET as Covering frame inner part number 993.541.925.00. I have never installed a 993 windshield but I do know the glass is glued in as said vs heald in by the rubber seal. It is possible the frame as they call it can be glued in place and you don't need to replace it. Although this is not my area of expertise.

The 993 has a three piece seal 1. A rubber rib that surrounds the entire screen 2. An outer seal
(Meets the body externally and the windshield ) 3. An inner seal ( seals the inner body frame to the inner portion of the windscreen rubber rib .
I would attempt to reaffix the inner seal as it is initially with a high performance rubber sealant
And see if it can be reattached to the rib , other wise you may be talking about a window out situ ..

Thanks for the insight! Will give this a try.

Never seen the inner seal come off before. And I am not sure what that lighter tape looking stuff is behind where the seal came loose. Maybe the inside of the inner seal?. Is the rib (plastic) on the edge of the windshield intact?

Assuming there are no leaks or creaking and no rust on the outside around the window I suppose you could try to get the seal attached (glued?) back. The windshield would have to come out to do it properly as Bert indicated.

For reference factory removal and installing procedure. It's hard to find a good shop for this. https://members.rennlist.com/jandreas/993-Windshield.pdf
