Broke ONE bilstien front strut on 993

Question: Do I need to realign my car after I put in the strut? And is it possible to buy just one bilstien?

You can replace one at a time but it's recomended to replace in pairs , an alignment shouldn't be necessary as long as the upper shock tower bearing position has not changed or been altered..

Thanks for responding budge96! Guess I’ll start looking for a couple of fronts.

The 964 / 993 front struts are mounted to the hub carrier / upright with two bolts. The upper bolt is your camber setting.
If you're replacing your Bilstein struts with the same Bilstein struts, figure out a way to precisely mark/scribe their location relative to the hub carrier / upright. This will ensure your alignment stays intact.

I’ve purchased new struts but I’m concerned due to the manner the old one broke. It looks like the shaft was literally sawed into right around where it meets the top perch? Almost like I should’ve put a bump stop on it. Although they’re not required for the fronts. Any thoughts on what I could’ve done wrong so I don’t repeat this apart from fallowing torque values? Tia for all your help!

Any pics of the damage?
