Did I just mess up my power steering pump?

Decided to tackle a leaking cam seam / o ring on the power steering belt drive. That part all went fine.

When I took the 4 bolts off to get the pump out the middle separated a bit and leaked fluid out.

When I put the 4 bolts back in it tightened it up.. upon getting everything back together I noticed my pump leaking out the bottom of the pump.

Being the first time I dealt with this, Isn’t the pump supposed to do this? Come off this way?

The long threaded bolts need to come out to get off the bracket.

I’m hoping I can just deal with the pump top side and not undo all the hell I just put back..

It never leaked before.

No you don’t use that procedure to remove the pump.
The 4 bolts hold the pump halves together and to remove the pump you take off the two upper rear Allen nuts and plastic cover and then from behind and below the pump you remove the two 13mm flange nuts.

Loosen the four retaining nuts and then tighten the four bolts for the pump halves and then retighten the four nuts, if it still leaks you probably pinched the seal ring.

Crap. I may have done that as I did see the pump split. I was so focused on the seal and the bottom gear, I didn’t think the pump through..

The flange nuts ate the ones inside the case below the gear..

I may have to open it all up again.. as to take the pump out..

I should be able to do this without touching the large lower cam gear right.

Just take the cover off, and loosen those 2 retainer nuts, those Allan’s pull it fwd

To remove the pump you will have to remove the drive gear and the belt, “again”

Yep. Did that. Upon inspection of the pump looking at seals I saw this….

Seals look fine, but there’s a little crack in the metal internal piece. I can’t think I did that winter splitting the pump 1/2 mm. Wonder how long it’s been in..

Tomorrow I put fluid in and we see…

Maybe have to do it…3 times…. Getting fast at it now.

Pumps back together and working fine. That crack must have been from a long time ago
