Horn Button Repair

1990 964. My right horn button has stopped activating the horns. I think it might be the button contacts. The buttons seem to be mounted in separate pieces, to the side of the airbag. Can these pieces containing the horn buttons be removed for access to the contacts. Or must I remove the air bag, to access the button contacts from the side?
Thanks

with a small flathead screwdriver, you can lift the edge of the button and remove it. Under, you will notice that there is a copper metal piece with a bend to it. It works by pressing the horn button, which flattens the copper metal, and contacting the two electrical contacts to sound the horn. I found that mine was not centered in the holder (had slipped out) so I repositioned and reassembled. Works fine now. Be careful as you reassemble as the "snap" together usually dislodges the spring metal and you need to perform all over again. Perhaps some di-electric grease would hold it in place.

I have a complete steering wheel, airbag, horn contact ring removed from 5,000 mile RS America if you can't get it fixed.
